25 AugDawn by Elie Wiesel 21/52

I picked up this book because it was short, (and let’s face it, I am way behind schedule in this book challenge!) also because it’s been awhile since I have read any Holocaust Literature.

“Dawn” is a psychologically powerful and ethically challenging work of fiction written by well-known author and Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel.  It is the story of Elisha, also a survivor of the Holocaust and who is now involved in a political terrorist group whose goal is to get the English out of Palestine.

He has orders to execute an English officer at dawn.  He spends the proceeding night reliving his past, trying to justify murdering a man and struggling with how this act will change him.
