25 AugDeath of a Greedy Woman by M.C. Beaton 20/52

A sweet little summer whodunit, starring recurring characters Hamish Macbeth, the Scottish detective and Priscilla, a past, and maybe present love-interest.

A singles’ group, Checkmate, congregates in a hotel in Lochdoubh to mix and mingle.  Peta, a glutton and part-owner of the organization, shows up unwanted, and starts after all the eligible men.  She is soon found dead on the beach with an apple shoved in her mouth.

Almost everyone, reader included, had thoughts of getting rid of Peta, so everyone is a suspect.  I was disappointed in the ending.  I thought it could  have been a bit more clever, but this little mystery was enjoyable nonetheless!

Will definitely be reading more M.C. Beaton!
