01 AprMemoirs of a Geisha revisited 9/52

I’ve been in the mood for all things Japan lately.  My husband and I have talked about visiting Japan one day.  There are just so many cool things about the Japanese culture!  My husband is into the whole ninja, samurai, and swords thing.  The history, architecture, and tea interests me.  We both love sushi.  I think it would be a great trip to take.

The recent natural disasters that have hit Japan has been on all our minds.

I decided I would pick up Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden for a second time and I loved it just as much as I did the first time I read it years ago.  There were even some “surprises” in there, things I had forgotten about.

The first time I read this book I honestly didn’t realize it was fiction!  The story is told from the point of view of Sayuri, a retired geisha who is being interviewed by a university professor who is writing her memoir.

I don’t collect books unless I plan on reading them again.  Memoirs of a Geisha is definitely a keeper!  I give it 5/5 stars!
